In the middle of January, I flew to Hungary to breed Fruska with Nyirsegfia Penge, a beautiful white working male Pumi, bred by Csaba Zsiros. Ironically, I’ve been watching one of Penge’s “elegant” sons, Zsuga for a while. During our long conversations with Csaba, I’ve learned about Penge, Zsuga’s sire, who is a working Pumi living on a farm. After seeing him, I knew, he was the dog, whose line, temperament and conformation I wanted in my breeding program.
I drove to Nyiregyhaza with Anna Varadi, my dear friend and mentor, who is also the breeder of my Kaffogo Agyag. We had plenty of time to discuss the Pumi in general while driving to the East End of Hungary.
Csaba has done all the necessary tests on Penge and the results are quite satisfactory to get a hold of this wonderful line. PLL Clear, DM Clear, Patella Good, Hip C and Brucellosis Negative. Penge is also qualified for breeding based on his Hungarian Breeding Preview.
This dog is not your ribbon chaser (“Straight, No Chaser.”) He is a real working dog with an excellent disposition and a pretty nice conformation.
