The Loot of Catskill Battyogo Bikfic over the weekend

The weekend loot of Catskill Battyogo Bikfic

September 7, 2014

We’ve had a fantastic weekend.  Catskill Battyogo Bikfic has earned 5 points this weekend and has won a big one, “Best in Beginner Puppy Show,” where he has competed outside of the Miscellaneous Class, in the “Big League.” I think Bikfic is the very first Pumi competing in the big league in conformation and winning Best in Show (4-6 mos :-))

Three days, three wins for Bikfic BOB, BiM and one Jackpot Saturday, Best in Beginner Puppy Class (4-6 mos)

Marika and Paul Foreman, owners of Catskill Bikfic and Csibesz,  invited me to their home for the weekend  since they live only ten minutes from the show site. (Laszlo could not make it as he just had a surgery Tuesday.)  They have been perfect hosts.  They’ve fed me and entertained me for three days.

Hey you out there... get ready...!

After we returned to Marika and Paul’s home each day after the shows, we could not stop watching and laughing the three crazy Pumis turning from well behaving show dogs into Bushwhacking Pumis, in Marika’s yard.    <—— Click here…

Like a Hurricane, Catskill Battyogo Bikfic Takes East Coast by Surprise…

While we are in the middle of the Atlantic Hurricane Season that runs from June until the end of November, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has thought that they have covered the Atlantic region with a reassuring certainty.

Not so fast folks because today, Hurricane Catskill Battyogo Bikfic, (owners,  Marika and Paul Foreman of Somerville, NJ,) has taken the East Coast by surprise (to keep it modest – I am referring to the event as “by surprise…”) and has won “Best Beginner Puppy in Show” at the Somerset Hills Kennel Club AKC Show in Bridgewater, NJ.

The background of the story: AKC has started organizing more 4-6 months old puppy shows to help breeders and owners to be able to acclimatize their young dogs to show environments earlier.

Surprisingly, the AKC has changed its “ancient regime” behavior and has generously decided to  allow puppies of the Miscellaneous Class to participate in the “Best  Beginner Puppy in Show” competition as well.  (A few weeks ago, during the West Springfield, MA AKC shows, organizers were not sure wether miscellaneous pups could participate in the Best in Puppy Show or not, so my cute Catskill Becsi Barsony was excluded from the event.)

Although, Catskill Battyogo Bikfic was invited into the ring after his Best in Misc. yesterday, we’ve declined to enter,  based on our last show experience – I thought that the invitation was an administrative mistake…. However, today, the judges were insisting that yes, AKC has given the green light for MIscellaneous puppies to enter too.

While Bikfic was hesitant on the table a few weeks ago, now he stands there like a pro (we worked out the problem...)

To make the story short, we’ve entered with Catskill Battyogo Bikfic and we not only won the show but Catskill Battyogo Bikfic has also earned his first paycheck in a form of a Benjamin Franklin prints on a contemporary legal and tender Greenback (6.41″x2.61″)

Rufflections on Eukanuba 2013

December 21, 2013

Don’t you hate when you just cannot stop doodling those annoying Christmas jingles long after you walked out from the shopping mall? This is exactly how I feel about the color combination of “Dog Show Floor Blue” and “Eukanuba Pink.” They have saturated in my brain and drive me crazy days after the show. So I’ve decided to write about last week’s National Championship Dog Show in Florida one last time.  (My shrink always says that I have to talk about things to address them…)

I do not plan to incite a Christian sectarian religious upheaval between Protestants and Catholics here or try to lessen the cultural impact of the various great powers set foot on this continent, however, personally, I am glad that Florida was conquered by the Spaniards. They have left real flavor, temperament and style on the subtropical appendix of North America (no pun intended – please…). Let’s admit, without the historic footprint of the Spaniards in the region, Eukanuba would not be the same fun.

I think most of us look forward to it and we all want to go back to Orlando every December. It is more than just a big prestigious dog show. It is a reunion, the place for new friendships, great memories and a bit of vacation. We are like a big family there. For us Pumi fanciers, Eukanuba is especially a positive reinforcement, as each year, more and more people recognize our breed. For me, personally, It was a roller coaster week – mostly downhill. While some dogs had to win,  naturally some had to lose. In conformation, Kaffogo Agyag missed the opportunity to become America’s Sweetheart Pumi the second year. She did not even make it to the end in conformation.

The Best of Breed title went to Pattogo Parazs Buda with Nancy Ben-Dror. For my further disappointment, Abiqua Csupasz did not get through the qualifiers in dock diving.

The real life altering Pumi impact, has happened on the agility course as ZuZu and Tammy Hall has won the invitational agility championship in the “Sixteen-inch” class.

I remember when coming to the U.S. more than two decades ago, it was quite a headache to learn the United States Customary Units or the standard system after “growing up metric.” I remember how I was reciting the conversions, “a yard is three feet, a foot is twelve inches” etc. It was a painful learning experience with a very shallow learning curve to say the least…

After the Eukanuba 2013 weekend, my relationship has improved with the standard system as I’ve witnessed the inclusion of a new unit that you will also remember, especially,  when talking about agility. Now you can also recite the conversions with the new addition; “a yard is three feet, a foot is twelve inches and sixteen inches is a Pumi…!

Blogs supposed to end of with something important, witty or memorable that readers like because it has some impact that they can remember. Eventhough, I’ve been thinking the last few days to finish this blog with something smart, I could not come up with anything significant. So let me just say this.  Orlando’s hospitality industry has been a great and very generous host to us, the thousands of dog people with our pooches who flock to Eukanuba each year. All the motel, hotel and restaurant  employees, the people who work the shows whom we’ve met have been wonderful, friendly, helpful and very patients with our eccentric dog habits. To keep this relationship mutually cordial and lasting for years to come, so we can be welcomed back again like friends and family, can everyone please pick up after your  dogs around the hotels, the parking lots, parks and on the streets of Orlando and not leaving a serious shit storm behind you next time?

See you next year! <——Zuzu and Tammy Hall <——Pumi bitches on the “”Dog Show Floor Blue” floor with the “Eukanuba Pink” in the background <—– We had some fun during the trip down to Florida

“Best of Miscellaneous…”

Saturday, July 20, 2013

We have entered with Agyag the Putnam County Kennel Club Show, in Stormville, NY Saturday and Sunday.  It was a hot and muggy day over 100F and a crying screaming baby under the tent- pretty exhausting…

"I Love Australia"

“I Love Australia”

Agyag won Best of Misc. over, the Mini Am Shepherds, Lagotti Romagnoli and the Bergamascos.  Our judge, Mrs. Lydia Coleman Hutchinson from Australia,  simply said, “Gorgious…”  She has also  handed out some nice gifts from Down Under.

"I Love Australia 2"

We got also invited by the Bergamascos Club President to their upcoming FSS (incl. Misc.) Show in October.  I guess, the Pumi is keep getting popular.

A Puli owner friend of my, who suggested me to enter this show, introduced me to Janina Laurin (she was judging the herding group) who really liked Agyag.  I have also had a chance to talk to other judges who are planning to participate at the judges seminar in Pennsylvania, in August.

So except the heat and the screaming baby, we had a nice day.

Conformation Show Weekend

June 29, 2013

We traveled back and forth to Bainbridge that is only an hour away from us to the “62nd Annual Summer All-Breed Dog Show.”

Felallo Fulu Fruska has won two “Best of Miscelalneous” classes while Kaffogo Agyag won hers the third day.

People have been very interested in the breed and the girls behaved beautifully.

Watch Agyag after her victory how happy she was.
